102-A ST Foundations: Columbia Plateau Cultural Arts; Weaving and Beadwork
Offered Spring (Huesties-Wolf)

This course will introduce students to the Columbia Plateau Tribal arts, and will focus on weaving and beadwork. The cultural arts being introduced were once a utility for the tribal people. This class will combine reading, at least two short reflection essays and practice. By the end of the semester, students will have completed assigned readings, completed one small weaving project and one small beaded item, complete a giveaway ceremony, and participate in the Whitman Powwow. Applies toward the Foundations requirement for Art majors. Fee: $100.
