Course Description

Ethics is the study of how we ought to act and the sort of people we ought to be. In the course, we will look at several prominent theories that address these questions, including virtue ethics, care ethics, deontology, and consequentialism. We will also explore how these theories engage with some of the most pressing moral concerns that we face today, including climate change, racial justice, and structural injustice. This course is intended for first-year students and sophomores; juniors by consent only; not open to seniors. Distribution areas: Humanities, The Individual and Society, Writing Across Contexts.
