This is an introductory course in development economics. It is a broad overview of the institutional structures, policy issues and structural challenges pertaining to developing economies. We will be exploring broad themes of poverty and well-being, agriculture, urban development, trade, sustainability and the environment, and gender. The objective is to equip students to learn more about developing economies and engage in an informed discussion about these issues. Should they choose to pursue further work in the field of development, this course is meant to act as a broad foundation or as a starting point. Prerequisites: Economics 101 and 102.
