Department(s)
Course Description
In this course, we will explore anthropological approaches to the ways in which people use new media to interact, play with language, and construct various identities in a wide range of political and cultural contexts. We will compare popular and scholarly discussions of media to each other and to our own observations of how real people behave online and in other digitally-mediated spaces. Prerequisite: four credits of anthropology or film studies or consent of instructor.
