This course explores the evolution of Western fashion from the Greco-Roman era to present day, through the lens of costume for the European and/or American stage. Students will explore the relationship between historical fashion and the practical needs of a theatrical costume. Special projects will ask the students to research, in depth, the historical and traditional clothing and fashions of a region of the world outside of Europe or America.
