Designed for heritage learners of Spanish, this course focuses on the use of language in oral and written discussion and debate around issues and cultural productions with salience for US Latinx communities. Cultural artifacts include film, art, music, and narrative fiction and nonfiction. Students complete creative and academic written assignments and oral presentations, as well as participate in a significant community-based component. The goal is to strengthen the use of Spanish in versatile ways and across diverse contexts, in both academic and non-academic registers. The class targets the integrative use of complex language structures in Spanish. Class taught in Spanish.
