202-A ST: Social and Individual Determinants of Health

This course introduces students to the social and individual determinants of health and their influence on population health and health inequities. Using a social determinants of health framework, students examine how social, economic, environmental, cultural, and political conditions, such as education, income, social and community context, and public policy, shape patterns of health, disease, and longevity across populations. Through interdisciplinary perspectives and real-world examples, the course highlights upstream factors and population-level strategies that advance health equity and social justice in the United States.
