203-A ST: Health Literacy
Offered Spring (Kue)
Health literacy is a foundational determinant of health that shapes people's ability to find, understand, and use health information. It plays a major role in how individuals make health decisions, navigate the healthcare system, and experience health outcomes. This course will examine how health literacy affects health behaviors, healthcare quality, and population-level health disparities; assess health literacy needs and materials; apply plain language strategies to written and verbal communication; and design user-centered health messages that help people understand health information and access to resources.
