PH - Public Health (Concentration)

16-22 credits

Required courses (8-10 credits)

• PH 101 Introduction to Public Health (4 credits)

• PH 499 Seminar in Public Health (2 credits)

• One Statistics and Quantitative Reasoning Course (2-4 credits; see list below) 

At least three courses from the following Thematic Areas, with at least 4 credits in each Thematic Area (8-12 credits)

• “Health and Natural Sciences” (see list below)

• “Social and Cultural Determinants and Understandings of Health” (see list below)

• Notes: Qualifying Special Topics courses may be counted towards the thematic areas requirements, with the joint approval of the Public Health Steering Committee and the instructor and department in which the course is taught. Up to 4 Credits in Off Campus Studies courses may be counted towards the Thematic Areas with the approval of the student’s Public Health Advisor. 

Complete an experiential project based on out-of-class work, such as a research project, internship, or other approved capstone project. This project must be completed before taking PH 499 Seminar in Public Health.

Notes: Courses elected P-D-F may not be applied towards the Concentration. A maximum of 4 transfer credits may be applied to the Concentration.
